Why buyers turn to Greater Western Sydney for prestige properties

There are now “trophy home zones” in the rural outskirts of Greater Western Sydney.

They’re the glamorous estates, complete with tennis courts, pools and heli pads, that can be found spread across Greater Western Sydney.

You may not have Harbour or beach views, but the amount of space out west is giving cashed up buyers the freedom to build Hollywood-style dream homes, from sprawling French chateaus to full-blown castles.

More and more people are ditching the Southern Highlands and turning to the western regions to build these lavish properties due to available land, privacy and proximity to the city.

KIIS FM’s breakfast broadcaster Kyle Sandilands has paid $3m for his home at Glenorie.

Many celebrities are also getting the memo with Kyle Sandilands buying an eight bedroom mansion in Glenorie in 2022, signalling plans to convert it into a Hamptons-style family home on the 9580sq m acreage.

Meanwhile season 9 of The Bachelor was shot at a French chateau-inspired estate worth more than $6m in Dural, with everything from a fountain at the property’s entrance to indoor swimming pool, tennis court and gym.

“The rural outskirts have become Sydney’s new trophy home zone, with large prestige estates commanding extraordinary prices as more of the city’s business elite purchase impressive sprawling acreages in areas like Camden, Middle Dural and Kenthurst,” real estate gun John McGrath said.
