With WWE Elimination Chamber: Perth fast approaching, the company’s Australian superstars will be hoping to feature on the Premium Live Event (PLE) in an important capacity.
The show is scheduled for Saturday, February 24 at Optus Stadium and will mark WWE’s first PLE in Australia since Super Show-Down at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in 2018.
Current Women’s World Heavyweight Champion and Adelaide-born superstar, Rhea Ripley headlines WWE’s Australian talent pool and is primed to defend her title in a high-profile match that could possibly main event Elimination Chamber.
The Inner Sanctum will now analyse who she and the other Australian superstars should compete against at next month’s show.
Rhea Ripley has soared to new heights over the past year, winning the 2023 women’s Royal Rumble and dethroning Charlotte Flair to become champion at WrestleMania 39. She has become highly popular with the WWE Universe, as her reactions are growing in volume by the week.
The Eradicator is absolutely guaranteed to have a marquee match at Elimination Chamber and will receive a huge hero’s welcome, making Nia Jax her perfect opponent for Perth. The Irresistible Force is rather disliked by the fanbase and has also been dominant in recent weeks, defeating Becky Lynch on the Day 1 edition of Raw.
Ripley and Jax have also crossed paths multiple times, including a heated confrontation on this week’s episode of Raw. It is only a matter of time before the two clash for the Women’s World Heavyweight Title and the Irresistible Force was also born in Sydney, which would be a nice gesture to give her an important match in her home country.
Other names the Eradicator could face at Elimination Chamber are Becky Lynch and a returning Liv Morgan, but those two superstars are strong candidates to win the 2024 women’s Royal Rumble and challenge Ripley at WrestleMania 40.
Bronson Reed – Elimination Chamber match
Also born in South Australia, Bronson Reed has impressed on Monday Night Raw and has become a prominent figure in the red brand’s midcard.
The Black Forest native teased a potential rivalry with Jey Uso on this week’s episode of Raw, but a feud would likely not drag out until Elimination Chamber if it were to eventuate. Reed is also poised to receive a positive reception if he were to appear at the PLE and with Uso’s popularity, it would be senseless to pair the two together in Perth.
The Aussie Destroyer had a fantastic encounter against Gunther for the Intercontinental Championship on last year’s Season Premiere of Raw, continuously vowing to capture the title. A rematch would have been the perfect scenario for Reed, but the Ring General confirmed with Krone that he is unable to leave the United States for the next few months due to residence regulations.
Therefore, a viable solution for the South Australian is to incorporate him in an Elimination Chamber match. Whether it is for the right to challenge for the Intercontinental or World Heavyweight Title, Reed slots well in a Chamber match and also had a splendid showing in last year’s for the United States Championship.
If it is to determine the number one contender for Gunther, the Aussie Destroyer would be the right victor and it could lead to a second encounter against the Ring General at WrestleMania. Other names that could appear in this potential Chamber match are Chad Gable, Ricochet, Ivar, Kofi Kingston and Shinsuke Nakamura, with the first four also setting their sights on the Intercontinental Championship in recent weeks.
Grayson Waller vs Logan Paul – United States Championship
Born in Sydney, Grayson Waller has formed an alliance with Austin Theory and Logan Paul on Friday Night Smackdown that could soon boil over.
The current United States Champion has been confirmed to feature at Elimination Chamber and will more than likely walk into the show with the gold, so a defence against the Aussie Icon would be a strong undercard match.
Paul and Waller could get under each other’s skin leading up to the PLE, causing a fallout between the two and setting up the clash. It would give the latter huge exposure and the Maverick can also play the perfect villain, as he would receive a negative reaction from the Australian faithful if he were to compete against the Aussie Icon.
A problem though is that Waller has not gained much momentum on Smackdown and has found himself falling short in most of his matches. WWE would need to make him look credible if he were to challenge for the United States Title by giving him some much-needed victories, which could commence this week against Cameron Grimes.
